Counseling and Family Therapy

Care for the whole person often begins with the mind. From global events and emotional distress to marital issues, addiction and more, patients turn to counselors for help coping with — and thriving in spite of — their struggles. As a counselor, you have the power to not only change their outlook: you can change their life. With a Regis University education that includes hands-on counseling experiences at interactive learning centers and specialized certifications, you’ll graduate with a skillset that empowers you to positively impact children, adolescents and adults, with an emphasis on social justice and advocacy in a changing society.

Why Become a Counselor at Regis University?

The Division of Counseling and Family Therapy’s mission is to involve students in a search for truth, values and a just existence within the framework of humanistic, depth and systemic/relational traditions. In other words, we invite you to advance your career and your own growth by becoming a professional in service of others. When you take part in that mission, you join alumni who have entered the workforce not only as private practitioners but as community health therapists, school therapists, career counselors and more. Like them, you educate your whole person, in true Jesuit Catholic tradition, by developing the mix of practical skills, intellectual curiosity and emotional intelligence necessary to guide patients on their healing journeys. Most importantly, by realizing your potential with the guidance of dedicated faculty and the benefit of both in-classroom and real-world learning opportunities, you will hone the ability to create relationships with your patients that guide them to open themselves to their truth — and the understanding of their own potential, self-worth and intrinsic beauty — through the exploration of their emotions.
