If you’re thinking about medical, dental or PA school, Regis University’s M.S. in Biomedical Science program will build your confidence and help you become a stronger applicant to the medical school of your choosing. Our advanced science program is designed for students who have completed an undergraduate degree and basic undergraduate science course work and want to take a deep dive into areas like anatomy, biochemistry, human physiology, pharmacology, cell biology and more. With a degree in biomedical sciences from Regis, you’ll be ready for any school application process, and gain a more comprehensive background in the field of study you’ve chosen to pursue as a career. Change your life through medicine — and build the scientific acumen to do it with Regis.

What can I do with a Biomedical Science degree?

An advanced degree in Biomedical Sciences is challenging by design. With this degree, you have many options - all fueled by your genuine passion for helping others. Perhaps you’ll choose to enter the field of biomedical research, actively researching methods and hands-on testing to treat and prevent disease. Maybe you’ll decide to be an epidemiologist and learn all you can about infectious disease and helping prevent pandemics like COVID-19 from ever occurring again. Many students use this master’s program to prepare themselves for the most arduous career choice yet; the choice to enter medical, dental or PA school. Regardless of your path, the little things make big differences. At Regis, a supportive faculty helps you find your footing along the way. Our 5:1 student-to-faculty ratio is one of the smallest in competing schools, and our students are afforded the highest level of education because of it. Whatever path you choose, you’ll be ready with a Regis education.

What You'll Learn in Biomedical Science

Leave with more than just a degree. Graduates of the Regis University M.S. in Biomedical Sciences can expect to leave with an advanced knowledge of the following:

    • The anatomical parts of the human body and the molecular basis of cellular function
    • All the major human organ systems and their mechanisms of action
    • The fundamental mechanisms of drug-receptor interactions, as well as absorption and metabolism of pharmacological agents in the human body
    • How to use appropriate statistics to evaluate biomedical research results in laboratory and clinical settings
    • Practical applications of biomedical science, with a 100-hour externship requirement for each graduate

    Real-World Applications of Life-Changing Sciences

Our program provides a rigorous overview of basic sciences similar to that experienced in a first-year graduate health program, along with a direct externship experience in an area of interest to the student and a focus on helping students identify the best future career path for themselves. Students participate in an academic externship and gain valuable real-world experience in a biomedical field of their choosing. Regis University partners with institutions such as Anschutz Medical Center, National Jewish Health, St. Luke’s Hospital and Denver Health, as well as private medical and dental clinics in the Denver metro area.

    • Students select an externship placement that complements their individual master’s project and enhances their educational and professional profile.
    • Students must complete a minimum of 100 hours, which can take place over 12-20 weeks, and while most of the externship hours will be completed during the spring semester, many students are eager to begin in the late fall.
    • Regis will help cultivate the technical and soft skills required to become an expert in your chosen field at a top-ranked university. With a collaborative learning environment and opportunities to practice lessons hands-on, you'll receive an education infused with real-world experience.

    Faculty Spotlight

    Dr. Jay Campisi, Ph.D.

Dr. Jay Campisi, Ph.D., focuses on understanding immune system functioning, particularly with respect to how biological factors (e.g., aging) and lifestyle behaviors (stress, physical activity status, social media use) modulate immune outcomes and interact. His research projects focus on understanding the mechanisms mediating these interactions. He brings his passion for human health and wellness to the classroom by offering engaging lectures and hands-on practicals for his biomedical sciences graduate students.
